Here, the theme of ‘peace’ is revered and powerfully depicted by eighty unique flags, made by eighty teams of refugees, status holders and designers.
Although the Temple of Peace as an object speaks for itself and will leave no one indifferent, ’the story behind it’, as with all works of art, is incredibly important.
And it is a story that NEEDS to be told. Especially in these times.
The peace flags were designed by various designers from Dutch art academies, who together with refugees and status holders, have selflessly used their talents to depict this important theme. It is a hopeful and convincing message from the next generation.
Each flag tells its own story, its own personal vision of peace. The result is as stunning as it is moving, precisely because of the very diverse background of the makers.
The Temple of Peace will see the light for the first time during the Dutch Design Week from the 19th of October till the 27th of October 2024.
After that, the artwork will be on display at festivals and events throughout Europe.
